Westmill Sells First Dryer Rebuild to USA: Freres Lumber |
|
Westmill
is proud to announce that it will supply a Dryer housing and conveyor section
to Freres Lumber, Mill City Oregon USA. While Westmill has sold parts and door-cartridge
assemblies to the Unites States in the past, this will be Westmill’s first
American large-scale Dryer modernization project.
The veneer Dryer is a Moore 4-deck Jet Dryer.
The project scope has two main parts: firstly, a new housing, complete with
new doors and floor, and secondly converting the Moore Jet Dryer style conveyor
section to a M62 style conveyor system.
Westmill will supply the following equipment:
- New seal welded “minimal-heat transfer” upper housing
- New doors with stainless steel floating skins, quick-install door cartridges,
and Westmill’s patented Articulating Door Hardware
- New sloping insulated floor (for easy wash down) complete with Westmill’s
new Dryer leveling system
- New Variable Frequency Drive package (including pre-wired enclosure) for
plug fan motors
- Structural steel to support existing rolls, which will be relocated to create
more room in the conveyor section.
- 336 new jet tubes
- Roll baffles
- A new green-end dead air section, which may be converted to vented extraction
at a later date.
·
- New Dryer Infeed Rollcase with veneer Overlap Gates
Paving the way for this project was Senior Design Engineer Dave
Chard’s long-standing relationship with Freres’ management, which
dates back to Dave’s time at Drying Systems Inc. The Freres team met
with Westmill at Westmill’s Portland Woodtech 2003 (“Portland
Show”) booth in March to firm up the details.
